Do you THINK you can?

I would like to share a story that we all may be familiar with.

Puff, puff, chug, chug, went the Little Blue Engine.

I think I can-I think I can I think I can

Up, up, up -Faster and faster the little engine climbed, until at last it reached the top of the mountain

And the Little Blue Engine smiled and said as she puffed steadily down the mountain.

I thought I could I thought I could I thought I could (Piper, 1905)

The question of the Blog is do you think you can?

Do you think you can change the things that are getting in your way?

According to the Oxford English Dictionary Online (2018) the verb change is defined as, "To substitute one thing for (another); to replace (something) with something else, esp. something which is newer or better; to give up (something) to replace it with something else" (

Change can be our greatest victory or our greatest defeat.

When change is voluntary or by choice, it is a victory. For example, we change clothes, we change cars, we change phones, we change out mind. We love changes that we choose for ourselves.

However, when change is not our choice it becomes our nemesis. Change when forced on us becomes our adversary, opponent or foe. Change that is demanded for us is like a call to battle and becomes our greatest challenge. We hate change that is chosen for us.

So how to we find our way to conquer those change battles that are forced or demanded for us?

According to James Allen (1918), " as a being of Power, Intelligence and Love; and lord of his/her own thoughts, man/woman holds the key to every situation, and contains within himself/herself that transforming and regenerative agency by which he/she may make himself/herself whatever he/she wills" (p. 31)

This passage, written a century ago, contains the formula to Empower our own Excellence.

Using our 'will- power' we can control our impulses and actions.

Using our 'multiple intelligences' (learning, reasoning, and understanding) we solve problems.

Using 'self-love' we can take care of ourselves.

Empowering our own Excellence requires 'Will-Power, Multiple Intelligences, and Self-Love"

Can we change what we eat to be healthier?

Changing what we consume requires will-power and self-love

Can we change how we spend our money to be more prosperous?

Changing how we spend requires multiple intelligences and will power

Can we accomplish the goals we set for ourselves?

Reaching our goals requires will power, multiple intelligences and self-love

Do You Think You Can?

Can you harness and Empower Your Excellence?

Like the Little Blue Engine, if I Think I Can - I Can!
